Three SmartWitness products were recently shortlisted for the UK’s What Van awards, which celebrate excellence in the UK commercial van sector. The recognition marked the second time in a month that SmartWitness solutions have been honored in awards competitions, following a CES Innovation Awards Honoree accolade in the U.S. for the company’s new AP1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) camera.

In the What Van competition, three SmartWitness products were recognized in four different categories, earning more nominations than any other video telematics provider.

Placing in both the Innovation and Technology categories is SmartWitness’ AIDE (Artificial Intelligence Driving Events) software, a cloud-based AI solution that reduces false alerts of risky driving behavior up to tenfold by applying machine learning and contextual analysis of vehicle and road conditions to video captured by in-cab cameras. AIDE removed more than 250,000 false alerts in the first three months on the market, eliminating hours of unnecessary manual video review by fleet managers. Significantly, AIDE can be deployed without replacing cameras in the field since all AI processing is performed in the cloud, providing significant cost advantages over other AI solutions.

The SmartWitness CP4S 4-Channel HD Vehicle Recorder was recognized in What Van’s Telematics category for providing a compact, affordable, ultrafast 4G/LTE multi-channel DVR solution with nearly 360-degree visibility and crystal-clear video from all four channels for monitoring driving behavior. The CP4S also supports multiple IoT solutions, including temperature control, interior cameras, driver attendance cameras, security sensors, and even a panic alarm for the driver, providing multi-IoT capabilities to the van market for the first time.

In addition, SmartWitness’ AP1 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Camera was honored in What Van’s Risk Management category for uniquely combining critical driver-friendly safety and convenience features with an industry-first 2-in-1 design that eliminates the time, expense and space of purchasing, installing and maintaining separate camera and telematics devices. This road-facing, 4G LTE camera includes audible alerts to drivers in the event of an imminent accident, artificial intelligence that dramatically reduces false reports of risky driving behavior, a mobile app that enables drivers to retrieve accident/incident video without removing the SD card, and more, along with low cost and 15-minute installation.

What Van winners will be announced in London on December 9.
