Video telematics provider SmartWitness, a CES 2022 Innovations Award Honoree, is showcasing two cameras and a suite of AI solutions that improve road safety and risk analysis for commercial truck fleets. All new products offer first-in-class capabilities that simplify deployments, lower costs and help increase camera acceptance by both drivers and fleet managers, reducing resistance to camera use that has limited the ability to prevent and analyze risky driving behavior.

The SmartWitness AP1 camera earned CES 2022 Innovations Award Honoree status for an industry-first 2-in-1 design that eliminates the cost, time and space of installing separate camera and telematics devices with a one-piece, plug-and-play unit. This road-facing, 1080p HD camera also offers key safety features, including real-time ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) audio alerts to prevent imminent accidents.

The new SmartWitness KP2, being unveiled at CES, is the first modular road-facing and driver-facing camera. The optional driver-facing module snaps on with no need to change wiring, giving fleet managers the flexibility to deploy video telematics in stages. Fleets can select from six different real-time ADAS collision avoidance and driver monitoring features to help avert accidents as well as identify driver behavior contributing to traffic incidents.

Both cameras can be equipped with one or more components of the new SmartWitness Cloud AI suite, the first software package that intelligently analyzes captured video for safety violations without requiring fleets to purchase AI-equipped cameras. The suite includes AIDE (Artificial Intelligence Driving Events), which applies machine learning and AI to reduce erroneous reports of unsafe driving behavior; SmartID, which uses facial recognition to automatically identify who is driving a vehicle; and C.A.R.E. (Computer Analyzed Risk Evaluation), which detects risky driver behavior such as fatigue and distraction through machine vision.

SmartWitness is exhibiting at Booth 10221 at CES 2022.
